Patriot Warrior 2017

Reserve Citizen Airman lead joint, international partner in Exercise Patriot Warrior

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --

More than 570 Reserve Citizen Airmen are meeting at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin to participate in Exercise Patriot Warrior 2017, which occurs in various phases from August 7 to August 24.

The Air Force Reserve Command-owned annual exercise, formally known as Exercise Global Medic, puts Reservists in real world training scenarios to prepare them to operate in deployed contingency environments similar to the ones Citizen Airmen overseas can face daily. Patriot Warrior also gives participants the opportunity to work side-by-side with more than 10,000 international and joint partners in standing up a fully-operational base with mobile hospitals that can accept injured patients flown in on aircraft.

Reservists from many career fields are putting their skills to the test and demonstrating their combat-readiness and agility including, security forces, aeromedical evacuation, aviation, medical, maintenance, comptroller, civil engineering, explosive ordnance disposal, and logistics.

Reservists showcase the same capabilities needed to meet standards of their active-duty counterparts while adding their unmatched skillsets and innovative thinking to the mission.

The exercise features training on command and control operations, land navigation, air drops, aeromedical evacuation, patient care, small arms, EOD tactical operations, security patrols and cargo processing.

Mobility and aeromedical evacuation assets such as the C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130 Hercules, KC-135 Stratotanker and C-40 Clipper bring an important level of realism to the exercise and for the first time, aircraft are assigned specifically to the exercise. The 403rd Wing from Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi and the 908th Airlift Wing from Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama are both providing a C-130.
