Future Airman Bray Schulte joined a long family history of military service Friday, January 18, 2008, by enlisting in the Air Force Reserve. He will be assigned to the 445th Airlift Wing, working in the Security Forces Squadron. Bray's father, Lt. Col. John Schulte, 910th Mission Support Group Deputy Commander, gave him the Oath of Enlistment at the 445th Airlift Wing Recruiting office with a small group of family and friends attending. Bray's mother, Col. Anna Schulte, is the 445th Maintenance Group commander.

Bray's parents both have fathers that retired from the military. Col. Anna Schulte's father spent 30 years in the Air Force and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He served in Vietnam and had a maintenance background. Col. Schulte also has plenty of military history on her mother's side of the family with members of the family serving in both WWI and WWII in Germany.

Lt. Col. John Schulte's father served 28 years in the Navy and retired as an O-6. He flew combat missions in Korea and Vietnam and served as commander of the USS Midway, CV-41. He was also First Carrier Air Group Commander (CAG) of "TOP GUN". Lt. Col. Schulte's grandfather (Bray's great-grandfather) was in boot camp when WWII ended.

Bray will go to basic training in September, 2008. In the meantime, he is a full time student at Wright State University studying computer science and working under the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) in the 445th Security Forces Squadron.

It looks like Bray has some big footsteps to follow, but with the support of his military family, he is sure to be a great asset to the 445th Airlift Wing.
