WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – After more than a year of providing Teams support via the Commercial Virtual Remote environment to facilitate collaborative telework during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Defense will discontinue the digital tool starting June 15.

The Air Force will switch exclusively to AFNet Teams for remote work in order to save on costs and meet cybersecurity standards, officials said.

Although the two tools feature similar interfaces, the new program is safer than CVR Teams and able to process controlled unclassified information with less risk. The Department of the Air Force continues to refine AFNet Teams to enable access on personal computers, add dial-in capability, introduce a global directory and accommodate collaboration with guests outside the network.

These features are projected for rollout later this month.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base personnel can already log in to AFNet Teams with their common access card on either the government system or virtual private network.

Personnel can access various videos and tools for navigating AFNet Teams at https://afteams.evolvetraining365.com/ after they register for a training account.
