As this year comes to a close, I would like to personally thank the more than 2,000 Airmen and civilians of the 445th Airlift Wing for your unprecedented performance in the year we just completed.

The non-stop pace of 2010 was one for the history books. The superb accomplishments of this wing are due to one and only one thing; you're never ending record of volunteerism. The mobilization in support of the Afghan surge and the many volunteer AEF tours completed by our Airmen was something that I could never have envisioned. It speaks volumes about your sense of mission coupled with your strong commitment to the extended family we call the Buckeye Wing.

I wish that we could now return to an era of "normalcy" in 2011, but it appears that the upcoming year will be even more challenging as we commence the transition to the C-17 Globemaster III.

I encourage you to enjoy the Holiday Season and recharge your batteries for the upcoming challenges ahead. I have no crystal ball or insider information, but I fully expect that 2011 will be one of those banner years that will define your military career.

Have a most enjoyable Holiday Season with your friends and family as we all prepare to welcome in the New Year.
