Reserve Citizen Airmen use 3D printers to solve problems

(left to right) Senior Airman Daniel Schnaars, Staff Sgts. Trenton Westfall and Kirk Laytart, all from the 87th Aerial Port Squadron, pose on April 11, 2022 with four different prototypes of the shower faucet handles they designed and 3D-printed for a dormitory building on Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Of the eight showers in the dorms, six of the showers had broken handles, negatively impacting more than 100 Airmen on the base. Schnaars, Westfall and Laytart spent about 35 man-hours developing, testing and installing prototypes to replace the faucet handles, bringing the showers back to 100 percent operability
