Colonel SCOTT A. WILLIAMS

Col. Scott A. Williams is the Commander of the 445th Aeromedical Staging Squadron at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He is responsible for the preparation of the ASTS to meet the peacetime training requirements that ready the Airmen of the unit to deploy an Aeromedical Staging Facility to humanitarian or conflict operations. The ASTS provides manpower for the operation of a 10/50/100/250-bed En-route Patient Staging Squadron, emergency care within the Aeromedical Evacuation system, Critical Care Air Transport Teams and augmentation of continental U.S. medical treatment facilities. Additionally, Col. Williams is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse providing care in a rural setting in Northwest Indiana, as well as maintaining his critical care experience in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit in Gary/Merrillville, Indiana.

Col. Williams entered the U.S. Air Force in November 1984 as a Security Police Specialist, serving an overseas tour at Rhein-Main AFB, Frankfurt, Germany and a tour at K.I. Sawyer AFB, Marquette, Michigan. Colonel Williams transitioned to the Air Force Reserve in 1988 with subsequent assignment to O’Hare Reserve Base, Chicago, Illinois. In 1994, Col. Williams, commissioned into the Air Force Reserve Nurse Corps as a second lieutenant. He was assigned to the 728th ASTS, then transitioned to the 445th ASTS, serving in various leadership roles. He was one of the first Reserve Clinical Nurses to attend Critical Care Aeromedical Trauma Course in 1997.

Col. Williams mobilized in support of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He deployed in 2009 to the 332nd Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility in support of Iraqi Freedom, and he deployed in 2018 to the 379th Expeditionary MDG Qatar in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom’s Sentinel. Prior to his current position, Colonel Williams served as the Chief Nurse for the 445th ASTS.
