WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- This autumn, Tech. Sgt. Nathan Collett, 87th Aerial Port Squadron, is welcoming Wilmington community members to aMAZEing Fall Festivals at his family-owned and operated greenhouse. The event features a five acre, pirate-themed corn maze, petting zoo, hay ride, giant checkerboard, bouncy houses, and more.
“It’s set up so that families can really make a full day of it,” Collett said. “We’ll have food vendors on-site, along with kettle corn, apple cider, harvest decorations, and other items for sale in our store.”
To prepare for the festivals, which will occur each weekend from Sept. 29 to Nov. 5, Collett planted nearly eight acres of crops, with help from his parents, who own the farm, and his brother.
“The corn maze includes about two miles of trails, and it’s pretty labor-intensive to maintain,” said Collett, who was in charge of planning and implementing all of the activities for the family’s first-ever fall festival season.
“It was important to me to take this opportunity to honor military members for their hard work and sacrifice because I've served alongside so many good men and women,” he said.
