445th Force Support Squadron wins AFRC award

The 445th Force Support Squadron was awarded the 2011 Air Force Reserve Command/A1 Nathan Altschuler Outstanding Education and Training Program of the Year award. The announcement was made Dec. 21.

The wing's education and training office supported more than 659 reservists in upgrade training. The unit was proactive in Community College of the Air Force support resulting in 90 graduates receiving 94 diplomas. The unit also hosted the wing's first CCAF graduation. The wing is currently ranked 6th for Air Force Reserve Command CCAF graduates.

The 445th FSS hosted four NCO Leadership Development Courses attended by 75 Airmen. They set up a working group with AFRC, reviewing an NCOLDC process plus identifying areas for improvement. This led into the initiation of a class leader guide.

The unit was recognized for processing 394 requests for tuition assistance of $221,000. They established in-processing procedures for more than 200 Individual Ready Reserve members attending the wing's IRR Muster.

The 445th FSS hosted a 445th Airlift Wing Education Fair attended by 15 colleges. Airmen had the opportunity to meet with the various college reps and 445th FSS representatives provided information on the GI Bill and tuition assistance. Unit members also created an easy-to-use guide for Airmen applying for/transferring Post 9/11 benefits.
