The 445th Security Forces Squadron earned the 2010 Air Force Reserve Command Outstanding Security Forces Unit award, tenant unit category, for their numerous contributions and actions both in and outside of the wing. The announcement was made March 18.

The accomplishments of the 445th SFS reflect many individual and unit successes such as multiple deployments to places like Haiti, Puerto Rico, Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan and Guatemala, and deployed Phoenix Raven Airmen participating in more than 15 missions providing protection for distinguished visitors. The unit was noted for several of its Airmen earning their Community College of the Air Force degrees and enrolling in Masters Degree programs. It was also noted that squadron Airmen routinely participated in community service events, to include speaking engagements at local schools, collecting items for the Toys for Tots campaign, and volunteering at veteran events. In addition, the unit processed more than 500 initial security clearances and 700 periodical reviews.

"It's no surprise to me that this outstanding group of Airmen are being recognized for their performance with this award. This past year has been one of the most productive years we've had as a squadron in regards to training for our wartime mission in many years. I am proud and humbled to be their commander and couldn't ask for a better team," said Maj. Sharon Dondlinger, 445th SFS commander.

The AFRC award is separated into two categories; the outstanding full-time unit and the outstanding tenant/associate unit. The full-time unit award went to the 94th Security Forces Squadron, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga.
