Twenty four Air Force ROTC cadets from three different area New York schools were able to experience the C-5 Galaxy up close as they toured the aircraft while visiting the 445th Airlift Wing Nov. 6.

The cadets from Cornell University, Syracuse University and Rochester Institute of Technology enjoyed the morning learning about the mission of the wing, the role of a reservist, and touring the C-5.

"We appreciate the opportunity to visit the 445th Airlift Wing. Most of our students have no experience with military life and there is no Air Force base near us to get that personal experience of military life," said Maj. Phillip Ulmer, Unit Admission Officer, Cornell University.

After visiting the C-5, the group spent the rest of the afternoon touring the base and visiting the National Museum of the USAF.
