With an unrelenting offensive attack and stellar defensive play, the 445th Airlift Wing reservists defeated active duty airmen from the 88th Air Base Wing, 29-14, in the first Active Duty vs. Reserve Softball Challenge Aug. 2.

The game, sponsored by the Air Force Sergeant's Association - Chapter 751, is planned to be an annual event that will bring reserve and active duty airmen together for healthy competition and bragging rights, of course.

"It feels good to win, but it's not about winning," said Staff Sgt. Chris Falloon, 445th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and coach for the 'Crew Dawgs.' "Playing against the active duty was great, and I really hope that this develops into a big thing," he added.

With a combined 43 runs in just seven innings, it certainly gave the crowd something to cheer about. Avid fans, both active duty and reserve, showed up to support their respective teams.

Before playing for bragging rights an exhibition game allowed Airmen to hone their skills in preparation for the game that really counted. Free food and drinks were provided by the AFSA, and trophies were awarded to the teammates of the 445th champions.

"It was great to see so many reservists not only participate in the game, but also show up to support their fellow Airmen," 445th Command Chief Master Sgt. Aaron Mouser said. "Thank you to all those who were involved and supported this event," he added.
