Airmen from the 445th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron de-ice a C-17 Globemaster III at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio on March 13, 2022. The Airmen spray the entire aircraft with Glycol. The GL-1800 de-icing trucks maneuver carefully around the aircraft to ensure the entire aircraft is spayed. They repeat the process twice to ensure no ice is left on the aircraft and that none has formed overtime before takeoff. Tech. Sgt. Andrew Hall, of the avionics section of the 445th AMXS, was one of the lift operators that day. When the de-icing truck is stationary, the operator is not only able to move their cab around but can also raise and lower the spray nozzle.
