WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The 14th Intelligence Squadron at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, recently reached full operational capability becoming a fully mission proficient reserve unit.
The 14th Intelligence Squadron is subordinate to the 655th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group (ISRG) and provides total force integration (TFI) support to the 21st Intelligence Squadron, all co-located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The 14th Intelligence Squadron consists of 56 personnel and was activated 17 April 2014. Having achieved full operational capability 25 March 2016, the 14th Intelligence Squadron provides sufficiently trained intelligence personnel to fulfill acquisition intelligence mission requirements. They are now able to fully integrate with their active-duty counter-parts, working alongside them to fulfill mission requirements and backfilling in the case of deployments or surges in operations.
The squadron commander of the 14th Intelligence Squadron, Lt. Col. Dianne Hickey, has been at the helm since activation in 2014. Reflecting on the squadron’s accomplishment, Hickey commented, “The members of the 14th Intelligence Squadron have put forth tremendous effort to stand-up all of the mission and squadron administrative programs required to reach full operational capability.”
“This is a significant achievement for the squadron, and I am proud of the dedicated members of the 14th Intelligence Squadron who have contributed to this success. Additionally, we are thankful to the incredible support from our TFI mission partner, the 21st Intelligence Squadron.”
Together with the 21st Intelligence Squadron, the 14th Intelligence Squadron provides intelligence support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and works in collaboration with the National Air and Space Intelligence Center.
Lt. Col. Steven L. Watts II, commander of the 21st Intelligence Squadron, observed, “This is a truly remarkable milestone for the acquisition intelligence mission. Our cumulative capability and capacity to provide intelligence support to the Air Force’s most advanced weapon systems is now at an all-time high. It is an honor to partner with a unit that possess a tremendous heritage and today serves as the only reserve Classic Associate Unit in Air Force Materiel Command … the Air Force’s largest major command.”
This accomplishment of reaching full operational capability was reached with assistance from many organizations across the Air Force. “Our standup is the cumulative effort of many organizations coming together to support the 14th Intelligence Squadron,” Hickey said. “We appreciate the guidance of the 655th ISRG, our sister squadrons in the 655th ISRG, and our administrative support organization, the 445th Airlift Wing, for their superior service and collaboration in standing up the 14th Intelligence Squadron.”
