  • Commander encourages Airmen to be ready

    On April 3, 2020, Lt Gen Scobee, Chief of the Air Force Reserve, sent a message to reservists updating his intent in combating COVID-19. His #1 priority is “Take care of Americans, Airmen and families.” To that end, we are at a pivotal point where we see a shift and are now calling upon Citizen Airmen to join civilian healthcare professionals, first responders and others to support the national effort for pandemic response.

    Before any aircraft can take flight, each person and every piece of cargo must be carefully calculated to ensure appropriate weight distribution. Not only is this important for optimum fuel burn, it’s paramount to safety. An unbalanced aircraft with too much weight in the tail end, for example, may drag the ground on the runway.
  • 89th AS Airmen prepare meals at Dayton's House of Bread

    Ten Airmen from the 89th Airlift Squadron volunteered their time at the House of Bread, located in Dayton, Ohio, Dec. 8 2019. The members prepped food, unloaded products, decorated, organized and also were given the opportunity to meet a lot of people from the community.
  • 445th AMDS Airman saves life through organ donation

    Staff Sgt. Melissa Sherman of the 445th Aerospace Medicine Squadron has been a member of the 445th Airlift Wing since December 2012. A few years ago, she received news that her father was in need of a new kidney and she volunteered to donate one. After medical testing, it became apparent that she nor her siblings were an appropriate blood match to be able to help her father.
  • 445th maintainers keep the fleet flying

    The 445th Maintenance Group, which includes the 445th Maintenance and Aircraft Maintenance Squadrons, is tasked with maintaining and supporting the mechanical operations of nine C-17 Globemaster III aircraft assigned to the 445th Airlift Wing.
  • 445th MXS emphasizes leadership at every level

    Airmen from the 445th Maintenance Squadron, working to replicate and reinforce the positive impact that the Airman’s Council has on unit effectiveness at the wing level, created their own version of the program at the squadron level. It shares many of the characteristics of the wing’s Airman’s Council and is heavily focused on squadron morale and unit cohesion.
  • 445th LRS completes AT in Germany

    Airmen from the 445th Logistics Readiness Squadron had the opportunity to perform their annual tour at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, in June, working along with their counterparts from the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. Some of the work performed by the Reserve Citizen Airmen included assisting customers at the Traffic Management Office, processing materials and parts used to support missions at other locations and performing vehicle operations duties.
  • 445th SFS provides support to active duty in Germany

    Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 445th Security Forces Squadron travelled to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany to complete their annual tour June 15-29, 2019. The Airmen not only conducted training but also provided backfill with their counterparts from the 52nd Fighter Wing to ensure mission readiness.
  • 87 APS participates in Port Dawg Challenge

    Like other 445th Airlift Wing units, the 87th Aerial Port Squadron must ensure its members meet rigorous job-related training requirements. The training task lists can be daunting, so squadron leadership created a semi-annual, all-hands event known as “The Port Dawg Challenge.”
