WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Cub Scouts from Pack 842, Lebanon, Ohio, donated personal items for the residents of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio, Dec. 5. The Scouts collected the items from neighbors as a community outreach project. The wing delivered the items, along with other personal care items donated by members of the wing, to the residents later that morning. The Scouts were coined by the 445th Airlift Wing Command Chief Master Sgt. Peri Rogowski and received a huge “thank-you” from the 445th AW commander, Col. Stephen Goeman. 445th Airlift Wing legal office members, Lt. Col, Gregory Baxley, Tech. Sgt. Matthew J. McDonald III and Master Sgt. Six Airmen assigned to the 89th Airlift Squadron and one Airman assigned to the 445th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received the 2015 Air Force Reserve Command Aircrew of Distinction Award for their efforts following two inflight emergencies downrange.

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Airmen assigned to the 89th Airlift Squadron and 445th Operations Support Squadron hone their water survival skills during a training scenario at the Dodge Gym here Oct. 4, 2015. During the semi-annual training, the Airmen were able to board a 25-man life raft and have the instructors from the 445th OSS aircrew flight equipment shop show them the different survival supplies that they can expect to find on a raft. While on the raft, the Airmen learned about raft care and maintenance, food and water procurement, first aid, protecting oneself from the outside elements, and signaling for help.
