The one-week course is held twice annually and incorporates many elements of training otherwise covered in shorter sessions. At course culmination, the nine students worked in smaller teams to rotate through a live fire simulation, rescuing a downed firefighter from the building.

The students practiced using ropes, carabiners, firehose, webbing, and more to rescue downed firefighters inside a burning building, mirroring the historic, real circumstances which tragically resulted in loss of life.
