Capt. Sean Conway, 89th Airlift Squadron pilot, explains the capabilities of a C-17 Globemaster III to young members of Cincinnati-based nonprofit organization Black Boys in Tech at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, April 6, 2024. BBIT was created by mothers in Cincinnati to provide interactive STEM experiences and mentorship for their sons, desiring them to participate in one BBIT’s pilot program and continue with out-of-school STEM programming during the school year. Public Affairs: C-17 Tours

tour program

The 445th Public Affairs Office provides public C-17 Globemaster III aircraft static tours for ROTC, JROTC, recruiting and educational groups. Requests are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

POLICY

  • Tours must include 10 or more individuals and are designed for those 8 years and older. Tours with less than 10 people will not be accepted.
  • Our tour season runs the April through November, depending on weather conditions. (Aircraft tours are not conducted during the winter months due to the cold climate.)
  • Tours are dependent on aircraft availability and held Fridays.
  • Tours will begin no earlier than 9 a.m. and no later than 1 p.m.
  • Only one tour per organization/school per year.
  • Our tour is only for the 445th Airlift Wing and/or C-17 aircraft. If your group would like to include a base tour (or you are only looking for a base tour), please contact the 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office at (937) 522-3252.
    • Base organizations wanting a C-17 tour are welcome to participate in Wright-Patt Day held the third Friday of the month, depending on weather and mission requirements.
    • Wright-Patt Days are for groups of 10 or more from all Wright-Patt organizations – to include military, civilians and contractors.
  • The POC for each group must complete the tour request form below. Call (937) 257-5784 for more information.

TOUR REQUESTS

  • A minimum of 30-day’s notice is required for all tours.
  • Those requesting a tour must fill out the downloadable “tour request” fillable form and email it to 445aw.pa2@us.af.mil. Please download the form and open in a PDF reader, enabling all features, for the form to work properly.
  • Tours will not be approved/coordinated until the request form is received.
    • You can contact the 445th Public Affairs office at (937) 257-5784 to check the availability of a specific date or for any questions about the tour program.
    • However, we will not “soft hold” the date until the form is submitted.
    • If another group submits their form first, requesting the same date and/or time, that group will be placed ahead of the group that called.
  • Sending/receiving a request does not confirm your tour date.
  • A list of names must be provided to us no later than 7 days before your scheduled tour. If they are not received by that time, the tour will be cancelled. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • If a group is more than 15 minutes late for the tour, it will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled within the same tour season. NO EXCEPTIONS! Those groups will need to submit a request for the next year’s tour season.

THE 445TH AW RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL CONFIRMED TOURS AT ANY TIME DUE TO MISSION REQUIREMENTS OR WEATHER.
