445th AES trains in the sky

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio - Maj. Eduard Bonser and Senior Airman Wolfgang Krenzer, both from the 445th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, await the signal from the aeromedical evacuation operations officer to transfer a litter patient to the aircraft while “hot loading” patients onto a waiting C-130 Hercules from Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, with its engines running. Sixteen reservists from AES participated in a three-day training event that involved loading and unloading patients and equipment onboard the aircraft and using simulated patients to run medical and aircraft emergency scenarios while in flight.
