Six Airmen assigned to the 89th Airlift Squadron and one Airman assigned to the 445th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received the 2015 Air Force Reserve Command Aircrew of Distinction Award for their efforts following two inflight emergencies downrange.

During the semi-annual training, the Airmen were able to board a 25-man life raft and have the instructors from the 445th OSS aircrew flight equipment shop show them the different survival supplies that they can expect to find on a raft. While on the raft, the Airmen learned about raft care and maintenance, food and water procurement, first aid, protecting oneself from the outside elements, and signaling for help.
