C-17 simulator ribbon cutting
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Base and local community leaders had the opportunity to tour the 445th Airlift Wing's new C-17 Simulator Training Facility here July 16. The tour was part of the ribbon cutting ceremony held to mark its official opening. The facility includes a new and fully networked C-17 weapon system trainer, a training management system, computer-based training devices, a core integrated processor task trainer and portable flight-planning devices. It also has the ability to be networked with other U.S. Air Force WST devices around the world for cross-team mission training. Having the C-17 simulator here will save the wing approximately $1 million a year because the 120 pilots and loadmasters assigned to the wing can do their annual and refresher training here instead of traveling to other bases.
