PTSD Awareness Day event provides information to WPAFB employees
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Pamela Boyd, North Region Psychological Health Advocacy Program outreach specialist, hands out t-shirts to attendees of the PHAP Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Day event June 27, 2014 at the 445th Airlift Wing. Approximately 85 people visited the PHAP information booth and received information about the disorder and the help that is available. A Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center was also on site with staff members available to provide one-on-one counseling. Vet Centers across the country provide a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families. They guide veterans and their families through many of the major adjustments in lifestyle that often occur after a veteran returns from combat. Services may include individual and group counseling in areas such as PTSD, alcohol and drug assessment, and suicide prevention referrals. (U.S. Air Force photo/Stacy Vaughn)
