445th helps with medical maggots experiment
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio - Capt. Eric Powell, aerospace physiologist, Department of Aeromedical Research, U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, experiments with live maggots for use in treating patients in the future. Maggot therapy is used sparingly, and is seen mostly with patients who have wounds that for whatever reason are not responding to conventional treatments and/or antibiotics.
