The Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy sits in the cargo area of a 445th Airlift Wing C-17 Globemaster III in Colorado Springs, Colorado May 1, 2017 before being transported to Washington, D.C. The 89th Airlift Squadron flew the Air Force Academy football team from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Washington, D.C., to officially accept the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy from President Donald Trump at the White House May 2, 2017. The trophy is awarded to the winner of the annual service academies’ football triangular series between the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy. It was first awarded by President Richard Nixon in 1972. (Courtesy photo)
