445th maintainers keeps planes in the air
Master Sgt. Toron Franklin, aircraft mechanic and crew chief with the 445th Maintenance Group, installs a new electroluminescent panel on the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, flightline, July 19, 2020. The electroluminescent panel glows green when in use. When connected to an alternating current/direct current source, this panel emanates light from crystalline powders or phosphors that are sandwiched between electrically conductive surfaces, one of which is translucent. The powders absorb the electrical energy and convert it instantly into light with minimal heat. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Amelia Burnett)
