A promise to keep: The beginning of Honor Flight

Retired U.S. Air Force Capt. Earl Morse, co-founder of Honor Flight, stands with his father, center, retired Staff Sgt. Erlis Morse, and his uncle, right, former U.S. Army helicopter pilot Ted Morse, during an Honor Flight visit in Washington D.C. Ted completed two tours in Vietnam, surviving two shoot-downs and a mechanical failure while earning a Purple Heart and eight Air Medals. Erlis served at Da Nang Air Base during the Tet Offensive from 1967 to 1968. The visit marked a rare moment of shared recognition for three generations of military service.
