AETC Defender Challenge team announced for Security Forces world-wide competition

U.S. Air Force Security Forces Airmen take part in the run portion of a physical fitness test as the opening day of the Air Education and Training Command Defender Challenge team tryout at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, Jan. 27, 2020. The five-day selection camp includes a physical fitness test, M-9 and M-4 weapons firing, the alpha warrior obstacle course, a ruck march and also includes a military working dog tryout as well. A total of 27 Airmen, including five MWD handlers and their canine partners, were invited to tryout for the team. Senior Airman Larry Depasquale and Staff Sgt. Jarred Steel, aircraft structural technicians with the 445th Maintenance Squadron’s fabrication section, prepare to repair the mesh layer of a C-17 Globemaster III tail component. The mesh layer dissipates lightning on flight control surfaces and prevents damage to the body of the aircraft and the internal systems. AFMC beta-testing diagnostic fitness assessments

Airmen participate in a group physical training session at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The Air Force Materiel Command will offer diagnostic fitness assessments to Airmen starting Jan. 20. The 445th Airlift Wing held an assumption of command ceremony here as Col. Raymond Smith, Jr., took command of the wing during a ceremony Jan. 4, 2020. Brig. Gen. Robert Blake, mobilization assistant to the director of current operations, deputy chief of staff for operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington D.C., presided over the ceremony. Col. Adam Willis, the previous 445th AW commander, left Dec. 7, 2019, to take command of the 315th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.
