Maj. Ryan Armstrong, 89th Airlift Squadron C-17 pilot, receives his first COVID-19 vaccination Feb. 26, 2021. The 445th Aerospace Medicine Squadron administered the vaccination to 445th Airlift Wing reservists and monitored each Airman for development of side effects. The two-dose vaccine was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration under an emergency use authorization and are currently offered to Defense Department personnel on a voluntary basis. Ryan Armstrong, 89th Airlift Squadron C-17 pilot, a COVID-19 vaccination record card Feb. 26, 2021. Members of the 445th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron load a 445th Airlift Wing C-17 Globemaster III with medical equipment during a local mission training sortie, Feb. 11, 2021. The cargo area of the C-17 can hold 36 litters and 54 ambulatory patients and attendants with a basic crew of five, two flight nurses and three medical technicians for aeromedical evacuations.
