445th AW NCO selected as local AFSA Reserve Member of the Year

Master Sgt. Anthony Johns, 445th Operations Support Squadron first sergeant, is the 2011 Air Force Sergeants Association Kittyhawk Chapter 751 Reserve Member of the Year. He was presented with this award at the AFSA annual awards banquet Jan. 21.

Johns was presented this award for his outstanding contributions both on and off duty to include developing a resiliency course for the maintenance group where he trained three trainers and 163 supervisors on suicide awareness; organizing holiday meals and adopt-a-family gifts for 72 at-risk families, and serving as senior mentor for the first 445th Airman's Council. Johns organized the annual AFSA Veterans Affairs event at the Dayton VA Medical Center where he led eight organizations and 27 people, providing 1,700 comfort items to local veterans. He also managed the wing's involvement in the Toys for Tots program by working with 13 unit leaders to collect 642 toys for underprivileged children.
