445th Airlift Wing NCO wins AFRC award for photography

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Staff Sgt. Robert Nelson, 445th Airlift Wing Public Affairs technician, won the 2010 Air Force Reserve Command Media Contest, Sports Photograph category. The announcement was made March 10.

"I'm very happy and overjoyed that I was selected for this award and I'm honored to be recognized for my job and what I love doing," Sergeant Nelson said.

Sergeant Nelson joined the 445th public affairs staff in 2009. His articles and photographs have not only been posted in the Buckeye Flyer and Skywriter but have also been posted on the 445th AW's, 88th Air Base Wing's and Air Force Reserve Command's Web sites.

Airmen and civilian employees from 22 organizations submitted 198 entries to the AFRC contest; a 21 percent increase in participation compared to the previous year and the largest contest to date. Sergeant Nelson will advance to the Air Force competition, representing the Air Force Reserve Command.
