Reservists place in Air Force Media Contest

Four Air Force reservists placed in the Air Force Media Contest. The Air Force Public Affairs Agency, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, announced the results March 24.

Second Lt. Zachary Anderson penned the best commentary in the Air Force. The lieutenant is a public affairs officer for 4th Air Force at March Air Reserve Base, Calif.

Three other reservists finished in third place in the Air Force competition. They are:

Tech. Sgt. Samuel King Jr., 919th Special Operations Wing, Duke Field, Fla., in sports article;

Tech. Sgt. Carolyn Erfe, 4th Combat Camera Squadron, March ARB, in graphic layout and design; and

Staff Sgt. Robert Nelson, 445th Airlift Wing, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, in sports photograph.

All four won their categories in the Air Force Reserve Command Media Contest.

Sergeant King was the big winner in the command competition. He also took first place in the photojournalism, portrait/personality photo and illustrative photo categories and represented the command in the Air Force contest.

The public website for the 302nd AW, Peterson AFB, Colo. - www.302aw.afrc.af.mil - won the command website category and represented the command in the Air Force Media Contest.

Also advancing to the service-level competition were Senior Airman Mikhail Berlin, 445th AW, Wright-Patterson AFB, in the new outstanding photographer category and Sergeant Sommer of the 934th AW, Minneapolis-St. Paul IAP ARS in the picture story category

In the command-only categories, the Reserve Recruiter, AFRC Recruiting Service, Robins AFB, was selected the best command publication, and Chief Master Sgt. Peri Rogowski, 445th AW, Wright-Patterson AFB, was named the best stringer writer.

Richard Gonzales of the 419th Fighter Wing, Hill AFB, Utah, earned command awards for best television news report and best television feature report.

The Front Range Flyer, 302 AW, Peterson AFB, came in second in the command publication competition.

Earning command honorable mentions were Tech. Sgt. Rudolfo R. Castro in television spot production and Master Sgt. Juan F. Valdes in video field production. They are assigned to the 4th CTCS, March ARB.
