Col. Stephen D. Goeman, 445th Airlift Wing Commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Peri L. Rogowski, 445th Airlift Wing Command Chief, were in Washington, D. C., June 1-4, as part of the Air Force Reserve Headquarters Commanders Congressional Orientation Course. The course included a legislative update, the omnibus process, and information on current and future issues affecting the Air Force and the Air Force Reserve. The course gave commanders a better understanding of Air Force Reserve challenges that come up during the annual legislative cycle.

In addition to the course, wing leadership participated in their annual Commander Congressional visits. The visits allow wing leaders to meet with congressmen representing their areas to discuss issues and concerns facing their units. Col. Goeman and Chief Master Sgt. Rogowski met with Congressman Steve Austria, who represents the 7th Congressional District of Ohio; Congressman Michael Turner, the Ohio 3rd District Representative to the United States Congress; and Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown.
