The Freedom Award is the highest honor the Department of Defense gives to employers for supporting National Guard and Reserve employees. The employers chosen exemplify what it means to go above and beyond federal requirements in support of military employees.

Only six weeks remain to nominate your outstanding employer for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

Service members from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have nominated more than 1,400 employers for this prestigious honor.

Those of you who have already nominated your supportive employer, thank you! Those of you who would like to nominate your employer, go to www.freedomaward.mil and click on the “Nominate Employer” tab.

Throughout the remainder of this nomination season email campaign you, along with nearly 800,000 Reserve Component service members, will receive two more emails announcing the season and provide updates. If accessing the site from a non-government computer a “connection is not private” warning will display. This is normal because the site is a .mil. Click “ok” and proceed.

The nomination form takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. Nominations must be submitted by Dec. 31, 2019.
