Online voter registration deadline is Oct. 5, 2020.  Mail-in registration must be postmarked by Oct. 5, 2020 and the in person registration deadline is Oct. 5, 2020. If you are interested in registering to vote in Ohio or in any state, you can easily go to Voter.gov and find all the information you need and the site will walk you through registering.

Registering online for Ohio is simple. You will need your driver’s license, name, date of birth, address and the last four digits of your social security number. Once you have completed their form, you must sign and send it to your county board of elections.

General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020.  If you register or update your information after the deadline, the change will apply to next year’s election.

If you are worried about being overseas for any reason, you can find a plethora of information on voting assistance through the Director, Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP). The Department of Defense recognizes that voting is one of the most fundamental rights afforded to U.S. citizens. The decision whether to vote is a personal one, but the FVAP works to ensure all service members who want to vote have the tools and resources to successfully do so from anywhere in the world.

If you have moved out of Ohio and would like to change your state of registration you can accomplish this at Voter.gov. They will cancel your Ohio registration and forward your information to the county board of elections for the county you have moved to.

You are qualified to register to vote in Ohio if you meet all the following requirements:

  • You are a citizen of the United States.
  • You will be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the general election.
  • You will be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days immediately before the election in which you want to vote.
  • You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court
  • You are not incarcerated for a felony
  • You have not been permanently disenfranchised for violations of election laws.

Every vote matters and every person has a voice. With the internet at our finger tips it is easier than ever to become an educated voter.

On Voter.gov, you can find information about voting, candidates, the election calendar, absentee voting and election results. You can also find resources for election officials and Ohio precinct election officials.
