Playing it safe this Fourth of July

According to the National Safety Council, the Fourth of July is considered the most dangerous holiday of the year for Americans. The National Fire Protection Agency reported an estimated 10,500 people were injured by fireworks in 2014. Below is a list of tips to prevent injuries while celebrating the Fourth of July.


Apply sunscreen frequently when outdoors.Always swim with a wingman.

Avoid drinking alcohol before or during any water activity.

Be sure to obey local laws when lighting fireworks.

Do not allow children to handle fireworks.

Keep a garden hose or bucket of water nearby to avoid fires.

Don't use a grill in an enclosed space.

Avoid keeping grills near houses, fences, trees and other flammable materials.

Don't drink and drive, make sure you or your wingman is sober.
