445th Maintenance Squadron Airmen Staff Sgt. Lawrence Depasquale and Master Sgt. Bradley Swindall, both aircraft structural maintenance mechanics, and Senior Airman Stephanie Gillespie, fabrication flight non-destructive inspection technician, competed in the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Cardboard Boat Regatta held on base at Patterson Pool June 30, 2023. They won “The Packed Pontoon Award” for most people on a boat and “The Soggy Bottom Award” for having the last boat standing during the battle royal in which the participants attempt to sink each other’s boats by ramming or filling with water by use of water guns or buckets. The 445th MXS team made their boat, Ship for Brains, out of cardboard, glue and tape. Ten teams participated in the event this year with more than 100 people in attendance.
