445th Airlift Wing honors its own during September 11 ceremony

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio --
More than 100 members of the 445th Airlift Wing gathered on the lawn of the Major LeRoy W. Homer, Jr. Operations building today to honor those who lost their lives Sept. 11, 2001.
The wing paused to pay tribute to one of its own, Maj. Leroy Homer, the First Officer on Flight 93 that crashed in Shanksville, Pa. Homer was a member of the 445th’s Airlift Wing’s 356th Airlift Squadron from 1995 to 2000, flying the C-141 Stratofortress.
During the Patriot Day Ceremony, the 445th Honor Guard placed a wreath at the foot of the building and wing members paused for a moment of silence at 10:03 a.m., the exact time when Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania, Sept. 11, 2001.
